Hi! So, it's been a while...
"A journey of a thousand miles" seems especially appropriate tonight. Did you know that's actually an inaccurate interpretation? It should really be something like "Even the longest journey must start where you stand."
The first time I read that (tonight) my brain was too fried to comprehend. But it seems appropriate. You have to start somewhere. You can't create change, or do something new, without realizing where you are, and in which direction to move... and then, take a step. It's been a long process for us, kind of assessing where (and who) we are, and what (and who) we want (to be)... and of course, praying, praying, praying that the way would be clear to us.
Tomorrow, we take the first official step and leave the state. Assuming the roads are not icy in the morning, anyway.
In the last two weeks, we've packed up our house, and our camper. The kids and I are sitting at Nick's parent's house for a few days, while Nick is back home working on cleaning the last few things at the house, getting it ready to sell.
It's been a long, tiring week. I really, really appreciate all the love and support we've gotten from our friends and family as we get started on our adventure. So many people have invited us into their homes for dinner, or watched our kids, or even come over and helped with dishes or figuring out camper logistics Thank you, there is no way this would have happened in time without that help. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
So the plan at this moment is to head out in the morning as early as we can, and see how far we can drive in one day. We'll stop whenever we need to stop. We don't have a schedule, we don't need to be anywhere specific, so we'll see how it goes. One step at a time.
We would appreciate your prayers for safe travels, and that we all find a comfortable, familiar routine quickly to help the kids adjust.
This is not goodbye.. it can't be, you all have become an interwoven part of our lives. We'll be back, better and stronger than before, and ready to start on the next leg of our journey, whatever God has in mind for us.
